My thoughts when I first found out about the Hilton HHonors points devaluation were of thorough disappointment, no doubt. But it's just worse than I originally thought. Surely they would throw a bone after a month or something... but no. For the last little bit I've been trying to write a post on the New Best Use of Hilton HHonors Points, and let's just say it's thinner on content compared to the other "best of" posts.
Even running a promotion and earning 1,000 points... I'm 1/95th of the way to a free night at most Conrads, which is absurd.
Read moreMore than ever I'm finding that the best uses of IHG Rewards are with the deals and sales they have. Which is fine for the extremely flexible, the last minute bookers and the constant traveler (me, me and me). Otherwise there are a few gems in the award chart that are good for more traditional use. I'll go over those most valuable hotels and which deals to look out for when redeeming points.

This hotel was a Priceline "win" and my first visit to one in the brand. Interesting fact is that Priceline and other travel sites like Expedia list the hotel with 4 stars but on the hotel's homepage they list 5 stars. So I've taken it upon myself to settle the dispute on whether or not it's 4 or 5 stars. First I'll tell you about the stay and then give the verdict!

When flying into Puerto Rico our first hotel was an easy choice. How about the hotel near the airport, with the nicest beach in San Juan and one completely free? No points, no cash. Free. It's a no brainer. It was a beautiful hotel and completely worth the price we paid. ;-)
