I wanted to do something a little weird.
The title says it all. I wanted to put all of our travel photos in a video, like a timelapse.
Here’s the end result:
After our first year of travel, our family would say that they wanted to see our travel photos. But who has the attention span to sit through thousands of photos?
Now anyone can go through all our travels with us… in a whirlwind sort of way.
This should show close to 60 countries, many of them multiple times. Although, if you blink you might miss it.
Also, Caroline spent countless hours trying to get this video to work. It’s 60 frames per second, and few things are related to the frame before. So Youtube (and other platforms like Vimeo) really struggle to compress and show the quality that we see before we upload. Some how it comes out grainy.
But after weeks of not posting this and searching for alternatives, tons of alternatives, that didn’t work… I just decided to publish.
Love, love, love the video. Even at the fast pace I recognized so many places I too have visited in my journies. And I know what you mean about sharing photos. No one wants to go through that many photos with you, even immediate family! Great project.
Thanks thanks! Def, immediate family has never seen our photos (except on Facebook) :-p
Great to see your comments!
Drew
I was looking forward to this when I saw it earlier today, but honestly I lost interest about 20 seconds in. However, it’s nice to see you back on here and I hope to see more.
Thanks for your kind, er, well… thanks for commenting.
I like the idea of this but I would prefer you maybe select some meaningful ones and make each one last 5 seconds or so. It might be better than this video though as I felt like throwing up (somewhat nauseous) from the constantly flipping of photos from the video.
I love the idea of this. But I can’t watch it; it’s like the worst carnival ride for my brain and it’s instant headache/nausea.
Sorry Drew. It’s an awesome idea, but the flashing images are too much for me.
It gives a good idea of your lifestyle for the past years. What’s the song’s name?
This is really cool! Admittedly overwhelming, but enough pictures fit together to be recognisable. More importantly, it’s good to hear from you! Wherever you’ve been apparently you’ve been working on posts and are back big time!!
+1 for the song name.
I love the idea and the actual result. Fits very well with the song to actually get out there and “Just do it” as Nike would say.
The fast pace didn’t bother me at all, and I thought you guys did a great job of putting in repeated icon photos so we could tell where you were. Very VERY awesome compilation!

Haha, woah, that Was like a roller coaster ride. I was having fun hitting play and pause just to see what photo I would land on. Super cool!
Very cool idea! I’m just really happy to see you back posting somewhat-regularly. Hope whatever disrupted things has been resolved and you’re able to get back into this!
Talk about your life flashing before your eyes!
Loved it! Most of the time it was possible to tell where you were. What program did you use?
Man you guys have really kicked butt in the last five years. It took me a minute to adjust to how fast it was going, but it turned out really cool. It was amazing how one could recognize so many places as the movie kept going. You guys have done more in five years than most people in 100 lifetimes – when it comes to seeing the world.
Really appreciate all your content.
