Every year, the Marriott Chase credit card gives a free night certificate at Marriott hotels up to 35,000 points (category 5 hotels), which is well worth the annual fee.
Plus, Marriott has regularly run promotions where you get a free night certificate up to 35,000 points (most recently for new accounts).
There are many great hotels available with this free night cert, including 22 Ritz-Carlton hotels and 13 St. Regis hotels. (I’ll share my list of those hotels). A free night at many of these hotels is a great deal.
So I’ll go through and share my top picks from around the world, I’ll share my list of Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis hotels bookable, and give a reminder about how to use the Map Of Marriott Hotels to find your own hotels available.

Conclusion
One option is to look at the Complete Map Of Marriott Hotels and filter out any hotel above a category 5.
As you can see, that still leaves a ton of hotels in the US!
If you wanted to make the best use, you could filter to only show Marriott Category 5 Hotels in order to show only the best of what’s bookable to you.
You can of course do this all over the world, filtering as you need and based on the points and certificates you have. The screenshot above is simply my filtering to find hotels eligible for a Category 5 Free Night Certificate (up to 35,000 points).
Remember though, most of these hotels are 35,000 point hotels, but you can use your Free Night Certificate on hotels below category 5… But these are simply the most valuable of the eligible hotels I found.
If you have any high value hotels (cat 1-5) I’m leaving out, please let me know!
Wow really? I have never heard of them doing this. I know that they have a promotion now that you get 2,000 extra points for two stays which is kind of Lame. Thanks for the tip I will keep a lookout. Hopefully they will do this again.
When did they give out certificates for two complete night stays?
I don’t mean to be contrarian but I’d pick the Sheraton on the Park and the Marriott Sydney Harbour over the Westin Sydney
Last time I remember them doing this promotion was pre-merger in Q4 2017. I was able to get a few Cat5 certs that time but I don’t know if that promo is coming back now.
I think they still have that promo where new account gets 1 cat5 cert after 2 nights but they might have killed that too.
I just tried to book a reservation at the Condesa df Mexico City using Marriott points and received the following message.
We’re sorry. This property is not taking redemption bookings at this time. You can either book a cash reservation or search for another property.
Promo hasn’t been run in a while to the best of my recollection! But discussing 35k options is something that makes sense since it’s what we get a certificate for with the credit cards.
Some other good options IMHO:
New Hotel Athens
Academia Hotel Athens
Another good option in Chicago is Hotel Zachary. Located right across the street from Wrigley Field lots of bars, restaurants and shopping. Especially for baseball fans!
