Update: I’m leaving the fundraiser open for the weekend only.
I hate to take attention away from the noble cause of the global effort to find the dumbest TripAdvisor review via The Best Contest Ever… but… There is another noble cause I’m pushing, and I wanted to say 2 things.
See, for the rest of this week, we are doing a fundraiser for our awesome family members and their awesome adoption plans. So for the rest of this week if you donate to the cause I (Drew) will be giving bonuses for you supporting this cause.
1) Here is a video update/interview of Carrie and I talking to Rachel and Zack about their adoption. If not obvious, Rachel and Zack are incredible people with big hearts.
2) The fundraiser promotion ends Sunday.
This so far has been really encouraging that the cheapest travelers on the planet have come together to donate almost $2,000 so far! Kudos and thank you!
And again, until the promotion ends Sunday, each donation will get gifts from Carrie and I. A thank you for supporting our family and this incredible adoption.
Here’s what you get.
Donations and gifts:
- Pledge $1 or more:
Thank you! Name/Handle feature on a thank you page. - Pledge $10 or more:
I will personally mail you a postcard from Asia or somewhere far away. - Pledge $50 or more:
Webinar time. Join myself and others on a video chat about miles/points, and travel. - Pledge $100 or more:
A little personal attention. An hour of one on one Skype time with Drew (aka… me).
- Pledge $500 or more:
All of the above. Plus, one award booking. Plus, dinner… if you happen to be in a city that we’ll be rolling through in the next year.
You guys are THE best… Second to Rachel and Zack, of course.
Just contributed…and sent an email to a certain blogger suggesting he challenge his readers to at least match their contributions to his campaign with contributions to this. Good luck.
Thanks for your support eddy!
Great cause; I just contributed. I look forward to the miles and points video chat!
Thanks Scott!
FYI – I had to use your original article’s donate button to actually donate — the two in this article just went to my PayPal home page.
Thanks, luckily one of us saw your comment right away and got it fixed right away.
I’m a huge fan of your site and of your initiative here as well. Good luck to you & the Millers!
Thanks Sean for you support!
Hi Drew,
I don’t see an email where I can send you a pm, so I’m using the comments section, hope that’s okay.
Anyway I wanted to ask what does “One award booking” mean in the $500 donation category? Is that where you find the award booking using my miles? And if so, is this also a service (for a fee, of course) you offer?
It’s great of you and Carrie to support and promote Rachel and Zack and what they are getting ready to undertake is amazing.
I’m very new at the points/miles thing, but in researching I have numerous blogs and I can honestly say yours is actually the most helpful, thereby making it the best! We are on the Maryland Eastern Shore, not that far from you so if you guys are ever in the area let me know. Thanks for all the great work.
Cheers, Ed
PS, since the donation window is time sensitive, I would appreciate if you could respond in time for me to be able to make a donation.
Sorry I missed this early on. Carrie said she sent an email. I hope you got that.
Donated today under the original message and left my reply there too…. I think you both are fantastic and since you saved me so much money on my first dip into the airline miles adventure, donating to your cause was well worth it! We usually travel w/ 5, and I never thought we could use miles/ find available award flights. Boy was I wrong! Thank you for all your help. Hope your family is able to reach their goal!
Caroline, I’m so glad to hear this site has been helpful in your miles journey. (That came out too religious… but anyways).
And thanks so much for your support both to us as a reader and to Rachel and Zack!
Donated under the original message as well. Here’s a thought for you: I like the addition of video. Since you travel so far and wide, have you ever considered doing an occasional interview with a non-profit or volunteer organization that’s doing something unique? There are many organizations doing good work around the world, whether it is in healthcare, hunger, education, alternative energy, etc. An on-the-scene report, should you ever come across one in your travels, could also be well-received.
