A little bit ago, American Airlines changed their prices, but never made a new award chart. They made a mess of a page with tabs listing prices for each region, one region at a time.
I decided to make an AA Award Chart for people… as it’s much easier to use as a chart.
Also, I made an AA OneWorld Award Chart, and another for AA flights… which has more off-peak prices to choose from.
For the first time you can view all AA award prices in one place.
Also, the Complete List of Airline Award Charts (on the Resource Page) is now updated to reflect this info, so you could just book mark that page.

Off-Peak Dates:
- Europe: January 10 – March 14, November 1 – December 14

Wow, welcome back, Drew!
Thanks! 🙂
Yawn. Phoning it in = Travel Is Free
Clever post, combining an accusation of Drew’s post, and a likely explanation of why he doesn’t both much anymore.
I thought he stopped posting because he doesnt have a way to monetize the blog. No sense posting stuff and not getting paid. being a thought leader for free is expensive
With fans like you, who needs haters…
By the way, feel free to post a link to your content. Would be happy to take it for free and then act entitled to something better.
Lol. No worries folks. You gotta have thick skin to post on the internet and allow anonymous comments.
Plus, if anyone needs an AA award chart… they’ll be back at this post.
Nice to see you back in the ring, Champ.
Thanks Sam!
Super helpful. Thanks so much, Drew. I look forward to a “sweetspot” post 😉
Thanks! Luckily most of my economy and best use posts still apply. Although, hopefully I can continue to find new angles for AA.
I really don’t understand the unprovoked and flippant abuse. I bet you guys feel so clever by posting your little zingers. But no, you’re just exposing your pettiness to the world.
Thanks for the chart, Drew!
Hey, it’s anonymous commenting… it’s gonna happen. At least it’s looking cleaner than Youtube comments. :-p
Thanks Gisele! 😉
Thanks Buddy! Really miss hearing about your life! Come back!!
Thank you!
However my life is much more boring now. 😀
Welcome back! I really missed your posts!
Thanks Michael!
long time lurker. Thank you so much. I imagine you are super busy with your new idea. How is that going by the way? Did you get off the ground running? I am genuinely interested as I would be an avid user of that app.
It’s going well!
I’m not posting public details about it yet. Starting small and working our way up. 😉 Hopefully you’ll be logging in before too long.
Thanks for the comment and for checking.
Welcome Back and thanks for the updated award chart, this was a timely post.
At the risk of being redundant after seeing the above posts:I just wanted to say that this was very much appreciated, along with the countless other posts I’ve read here over the years that have been immensely helpful not only from a points perspective but from a general traveler’s point of view.
I’ve noticed that for some reason this hobby attracts a surprising amount of entitled malcontents who love to take shots at people for no apparent reason, but thankfully that doesn’t seem to make up the bulk of your readership.
Thanks Again
Drew,
Hope all is well. Glad to see your posts again. I’ve learned so much from you and your blog. Don’t let the noise distract you from your goal, happiness. Everyone defines it their own way and some people will even try to define it for you. Do your thing. Cheers.
Thanks Christian!
I definitely don’t get upset and distracted by the noise. But I do appreciate hearing from kind people like yourself! 😉
Drew
Thanks Jared I do appreciate it!
Honestly, that stuff doesn’t bother me.
I MAY have had 10 seconds of cynical thinking… like post the only AA award chart (that I know of), instead of a credit card post or hotel review post and people still complain.
But at the end of the day 1) it doesn’t bother me, there are lots of idiots in the world and with thousands of people reading your blog every day, some end up commenting on my blog… And 2) lots of nice people (like yourself) comment, and in general when I take time to try an idea, people do actually appreciate it! For sure.
For sure this hobby attracts complains (some even think it’s a compensation strategy! lol). But I think anonymity of internet comments cause people to be ruder than they would be in person.
Even so, I think you’re right. I’ve noticed my blog has not gotten a lot of negative comments over the year (in percentage). So I’m gonna keep trying to create stuff I’d enjoy and I think other will to.
Thanks for being one of em!
Drew
Thanks Drew, glad to “see you” again!
Good post but am I missing something: Peak and Off Peak travel days those are always helpful. I got a lot of use with the old October -April Off Peak to Europe.
Aw shoot. Great idea. Gonna edit and add that now!
Thanks John!
Man, how’s it going? Make it down to Cuba again?
Good to see you back. Hope all is well. Another quality post.
Thanks Ryan!
Thank you. What would be helpful for all your resource pages (and those all over the web) would be a reference to the last update date right at the start of the post and maybe a history of the changes. It is easy to find lists of award charts, partner transfers, sweet spots, etc. on the web, but it is harder to know if they are current.
Yeaa, so I had this realization recently with the Hotel Complete Maps, because I myself needed to know how much to update. So next time I update things on the Resource page I’ll try to keep that in mind.
Anywho, good suggestion, and I’ll try to do it more!
So appreciate your blog and thank you for taking the time to make the chart!
Thanks for the encouragement!
Drew
your one world chart is not correct at least for south pacific. flights within australia are 10k and 20k points one way. flights engulfing all of the south pacific are 15k and 25k one way. I only know that info because i use those flights, but i imagine there may be other errors.
I very much remember that being 10k… However, the current AA OneWorld page says 15k as the lowest price.
However, as now noted below the OW award chart, flights within Australia are still 10k. But going from Bora Bora to New Zealand (which we did) is no longer 10k, unfortunately… at least according to AA.com.
Great to see you writing again Drew! Welcome back!
How do you like the great City of Austin so far with its warm/sunny weather, great music and food and young millennium crowd?
Welcome back drew! Ignore the anonymous comments, you’re the one traveling to these wonderful places for next to nothing, and we’re lucky enough to have you share some of your techniques 🙂
Great to see you posting again. Appreciate all the effort you put into your detailed posts. Please keep it up, you are missed!!
Great post! Welcome back – appreciate this & seeing your posts –
Thanks for the helpful post, Drew! Regarding to the (mostly anonymous) critical comments, my immediate thought is that you should switch to Disqus (or a comparable commenting service). Out of curiosity, have you considered switching to Disqus? If so, why have you chosen to stick with your current (anonymous-friendly) commenting system?
Thanks again,
Luke
Hey look, we have the same name!
Anyway, just found your blog through Mad Fientist and have been lurking for about a week now. Looking through some of your posts is seems that different programs have phased in and out of being better than others. What is the best big airline to get miles for right now?
Thanks!
Drew, too
Just read the off peak dates coupled with One World award chart exceptions…..am I reading that right, there is (subject to availability) a business class fare for 25,000 miles each way to Australia?
