We decided to remake the new AA award charts for two reason.
1) The AA award chart looks terrible. They have a dozen award charts on one page, instead of one.
Our award charts not only look better, but have everything in one place. We manually went through in order to create this for you. And for myself.
In the long run it will probably save me time, and I was able to notice better prices and deals when I could see all the prices in one place. This is the basis of my next post (coming soon) finding best uses of the new AA award chart.
2) It doesn’t seem clearly explained to most people that there are two award charts. I saw in the comments of one blog where people were confused why there were two different prices… and it wasn’t explained.
It’s because the price sometimes changes depending on if you fly on AA or a OneWorld airline.
What we’ve done is make two award charts. The first is the OneWorld award chart, the second is the AA award chart for flights only on AA. Then I’ll add a second version of the AA award chart that has colors to indicate the savings for flying on AA instead of a OneWorld partner. (For example, you can save miles on a trip to Asia by flying AA instead of partner.
Okay, here are the award charts.

AA flights Award Chart that shows savings when flying on AA
Conclusion
Again, my next post will be finding the good deals and explaining how to think about the new award chart, and the differences between the charts.
However, having these charts in one place is incredibly helpful for me, and I hope it is for you as well.
Thanks for the great work! this is really helpful!
Super helpful! Thank you so much!!!
I saved these to my computer so I can refer to them later on, but I added your logo and a title to the JPEG so I know where I found these and which chart is which. Thanks for making these!
You shouldn’t refer to these partners as “flying on oneworld.” Many partners are not in oneworld. (People coming from *A seem to think so but it’s not the case)
I think you have an inconsistency in your third chart “AA flights Award Chart that shows savings when flying on AA” with hawaii/asia1 and hawaii/asia2.
Shouldn’t Hawaii/Asia1 in the lower left side and Asia1/Hawaii in the upper right side have the same values? Same for Hawaii/Asia2 and Asia2/Hawaii?
btw, I enjoyed meeting you at the Chicago Seminars. (you may delete my comment)
These are very helpful, thanks. One thing that would improve usability would be to repeat the top line (country listings) somewhere in the middle of the chart further down (so you don’t have to scroll up and down to re-check which column you’re in.
Are the off-peak dates for Asia right? Summer is included.
They also don’t match

I was waiting for your charts and look forward to your work-a rounds…Great job as always, Drew. The best blog in the business….
The change in Europe off peak is a killer for me…Goid thing I wad tons of Avios and will fly Air Lingus to Dublin, or London…and then move around from there..
Nicely done Drew! I also like that your charts have a modern feel to them.
So light green -> dark green -> red is the order of savings (it seems).
Can you add a chart title to each of the jpg?
Truly appreciated!
Im not aware AA flies its own metal to Asia2, what cities ?
Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai. All from DFW.
Thanks Drew. These charts will help me tremendously in the long run – until the next devaluation at least.
Could you possibly put these charts in a downloadable format. I just can’t seem to print the charts without chopping off data. Thanks.
another great chart. i will be downloading this and using it as a reference. Thank you!
btw….no love for africa? I think you left it off of your chart.
Thanks for such a great post. Really looking forward to your next one.
Great work Drew. Very useful! Looking forward to you subsequent posts.
Can I book a one way award from PEM to Washington, DC (any airport) on AA for a single award price? I know I can do Cusco to DC for one price by piecing together from the BA site. Am I able to do the same thing to get the one extra leg to PEM from Cusco on the return trip?
