Well, it’s my favorite time of year as a Priority Club member. They’ve brought back the summer bonus for a two night stay. You get a $50 MasterCard gift card for a two night weekend stay. (Which last year was the amount for the weekday bonus and it was $75 for a weekend. But I’ll take what I can get.)
It’s seemingly straight forward, “Stay for two consecutive weekend nights (Friday, Saturday or Sunday) and we’ll give you a $50 Vacation Pay Prepaid MasterCard (up to $200) when you pay for your stay with a MasterCard card.” Doh, why isn’t my Priority Club card a MasterCard! For “U.S. and Canada resident stays worldwide between May 31, 2013 – September 1, 2013”
But it’s not as easy as you think. If you forget to mail anything, they will deny you. Maybe their reputation is softening up a little. Ya know, since they are overhauling their program and actually approving Best Rate Guarantee claims… perhaps they’ll be more lenient but still, they are notorious for weaseling out of promotions.
Make sure you mail in the following:
- Your completed rebate form
- Registration confirmation page
- Hotel bill showing your qualifying stay
Fill out the form, print your promo registration confirmation and keep your hotel bill. Stay organized on this one folks. Keep them together in an envelope or something.
Also, make sure you register before your stay.
Here’s why I loved this promo
If you’ve read the Earning section of the post, Everything About Priority Club, you know that, in short, you can register for a ton of promos at once and earn a ton of points on one paid stay. So you’re always earning a ton of points with Priority Club stays. Their promos can actually be better in summer and the best part is, you can combine them all. I’ll be keeping a look out for more promos to stack on to this.
Cheap hotels
At best this is a buy one get one free promo, instead of last year being a 75% discount. Still, with the points coming in, this could really be worth it.
But there are cheap hotels out there on weekends. Especially on weekends in areas like Washington DC, Atlanta, Dallas, etc… And last year I saw the Crowne Plaza in Phoenix for $44 and the Holiday Inn in Scottsdale for $33.
The Holiday Inn in Chiang Mai, Thailand is usually under $50 a night, sometimes much lower and is the nicest Holiday Inn I’ve stayed in (despite it’s distant location).
I told myself that if prices drop that low again, I’d spend every weekend in Phoenix but the Gift Card was $75 last year, making the hotel free… or in that case, they’d be paying you to stay there.
Hopefully they’ll come out with a weekday version of this and the prices in Arizona tank again for the summer. Then you know where I’ll be.
