InterContinental_DavosThe InterContinental Davos opened at the end of 2013 and in time for the World Economic Forum in January. Guess we just missed mingling with big wigs like Bono and a bunch of politicians. Because that's the kind of hotel this is, a playground for the super elite.

InterContinental Davos Suite BalconyRight now we're spending the night at the new InterContinental Davos. It's incredible.

Now I've bragged about the InterContinental Berchtesgaden, (which is InterContinental's other mountain resort), also in the alps. But the hotel is lacking in a few ways which this hotel goes above and beyond.

This hotel deserves an entire post later, but I grabbed some photos off of my friend Daniel's camera and wanted to give an idea of the hotel now, since it's so new.

The quarter isn't quite over but we're with family and friends until our next trip to Italy in early Feb. But since this quarter had such high accommodation costs, I figured I'd focus on that.

Right now I'm on an IHG kick. Period. IHG BRGs are getting tougher but PointBreaks continues to be phenomenal. But I realized a number of areas I could have decreased my spending, and increased the value of redemptions. Ultimately, we earned a total of 406,000 miles this quarter, and this post is about how that happened.

After a full day of reenacting The Sound of Music in Salzburg (that's not a joke), our hotel for the night was yet to be booked. So I pulled into a McDonalds and hopped on their wifi and booked the legendary InterContinental Berchtesgaden for the next two nights. InterContinental and IHG's first of two mountain resorts.
