Best hotels?
Like many lists, most of the hotels that sound nice, are outside of town. For example, they show a big picture of Prague, and it’s the Prague airport hotel! The heck?
Or they show a picture of beautiful St. Petersburg, but the hotel is 30 minutes outside of town. It’s like that over and over again.
In terms of best hotels in the best cities, here are a few picks.
- Holiday Inn Vilnius – close to downtown Vilnius. But it’s cold and dark this time of year.
- Crowne Plaza Padova – a little outside of town, but Padova would be a great stop for the Verona to Venice trip. Actually, you could combine with the Holiday Inn in north Milan.
- Options in Johannesburg/Santon/Pretoria area.
- All hotels in China are nice, but being in the south isn’t that bad in winter (Shenzhen, Hainan)
- Tons of stuff in the US – PB always has interstate hotels and airport hotels across the US, but if you need a cheap stay…
There are a few I might be curious about. Holiday Inn Express Lille Centre – I don’t know anything about Lille, France, but it’s in the center. Similarly, I’ve never heard of Friedrichshafen, Germany… but it could be cool.

Will stay at CP Chennai…I’m really excited about the IC Cairo…was planning a trip to Egypt anyway. Thanks for the series there btw though still no love for me w/Hilton cards. I’ve been doing well with CB on cheapo places though, my travel in Nepal/India has usually been netting a couple bucks profit/night lol.
Will probably do 40k UA miles India-somewhere in Mideast (Israel?)- somewhere in Europe (Malta?)- back to “India” on EgyptAir 😉
Or potentially just visit Egypt, then to India/Central Asia, especially if I can get it to route close to that Bali property. Anyone been there in January? Or had luck with a routing through BKK or something?
Nothing much in Lille this time of the year. Probably most famous for a TGV stop between Brussels and Paris!
Pretty underwhelmed with options compared to my travel plans for the next 3 months. I think this this the first PointBreaks in a year that I don’t even have to try to book anything when booking starts on Monday!
What time on Monday do they start? It is 1am here on the east coast – I tried to get the Bali location and can not find a single date for less than 15k points…
@abc. I did that tgv route and yep that’s the only thing I know about Lille. Lol
